Explaining our Pricing System | Easyway Maid Service

by easywaymaids - February 6, 2020

Why we don’t use square footage pricing

There are a handful of ways that cleaning services set their rates. The vast majority of companies use hourly rates, or, more commonly, square footage

While this may be fine for industrial cleaning, we think that it is a mistake to use this pricing system for a variety of reasons.

  • Most people don’t know the exact square footage of their home off the top of their head. If you do, great! That certainly makes things easier. However, especially if you are renting, you don’t want to go around digging through documents to find the exact measurements
  • Estimating causes even further problems. The last thing any maid service wants to do is re-quote you upon arrival. If you get it wrong, you could end up learning last-minute that you have to pay $50 more than you were expecting.
  • This system really only works if you’re cleaning the entire home. If you want certain rooms skipped, good luck getting out the tape measure and crawling around to piece together the exact square footage of 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, and a kitchen!
  • Not all square footage is created equal! A 11 square foot bathroom takes much longer to clean than a 500 square footage dining room with minimal furniture. If you have a lot of open space in your home, you may end up overpaying if you go with square footage pricing.

What we do instead

We use 2 methods, and each have their own merits:

Flat-rate based on total bedrooms/bathrooms

This is the preferred method by our customers and our cleaners.

Simple: enter the number of bedrooms (including the ones that don’t need cleaning) and bathrooms into the form on our booking page to get your price.

If there is a bedroom you do not want cleaned, you can enter our codes “minusbedroom”, “minus2bedroom”, “minus3bedroom” and so forth depending on the number of bedrooms to be skipped. Or, just book with us by phone and we’ll adjust it for you: $15 off for every skipped bedroom.

We use our standard cleaning checklist, and your price covers all living areas (garages and basements are an add-on).

Then, add whatever extras you want on our checkout page: oven cleaning, window glass cleaning, wall-washing and many more.

If you only want a specific region of the home cleaned, or you have your own checklist and items, then our second option is for you:

Hourly

Our hourly rate is $80 per hour for 2 maids, with a minimum of 2 hours.

This option is for those who are more specific in what they need, or have a limited budget and don’t want to pay for the entire flat rate cleaning.

If you don’t leave any cleaning notes with us, we will just go by our standard cleaning checklist until the time runs out.

Or, you can leave notes with us on the phone, or in the “special instructions” form while booking online, and we will start with the items you list in order of importance, then finish up the time with the standard cleaning checklist after those items are completed.

In summary

That covers it! Every customer falls under one of these 2 categories, and we find the simplicity of our flat-rates to be superior to square-footage pricing.
